Phil Angell |
Presenter on first broadcast

|
Ex-Fox FM breakfast show presenter and Programme Controller Phil Angell was
part of the Banbury FM team in 2001.
Even
today Phil is very well known in Oxfordshire, having hosted the Fox FM
breakfast show for several years in the nineties. After moving
to Cornwall Phil was keen to support the invitation to support Banbury FM. Phil’s
Saturday and Sunday morning programmes won huge support from Banbury FM’s
listeners and, years after leaving Oxfordshire, he proved he is as
popular as ever.
Today Phil is
the Group Programme Controller for UKRD's portfolio of stations. For a while in 2007/8 Phil
presented a Sunday morning programme on the Oxford based radio station Jack FM
. This was done from Phil's home in Cornwall - an area of the
country he has no intention of leaving!.

Dave Boxer |
Sports Editor
 |
|
Dave was Banbury FM's Sports Editor and infamous for
getting to every match on his bike. Dave's coverage of the
Banbury sports scene was unrivalled - from tennis to footy, and aunt sally
to rugby, Dave had them all covered.
Born and
bred in Banbury, Dave had been a student at Banbury school before heading
off to university at Luton for a degree in Media Studies.
Dave provided Banbury FM's listeners with superb coverage of a wealth of
local sports, otherwise ignored by other broadcasters.
During Banbury FM's second trial Dave provided a full commentary during a
crucial Banbury United match and helped give the club one of their highest
attendance figures during that season.
Dave
also proved his versatility and became a local celebrity as the butt of the
jokes in the breakfast show. Andy Green and Nikki Kirk would send Dave
off on his bike to a cold remote location - just to check the temperature!
Listeners would appear with flasks of hot coffee to care for poor old Dave!
Dave was one of
Banbury FM's stars! Boxer Boy as he was affectionately known was
just at home speaking to local sports teams, speaking
at the Banbury Business Breakfast Club to the captains of industry,
presenting the half time trophies at a Banbury United match, standing at
Banbury Cross in the rain, or commentating on the goal mouth action.
After Banbury FM Dave
provided football commentary for Oxford United and Millwall football matches
on the local radio stations, and went on to work for ITV.

Andy Green at another trial radio station George
jumped at the chance of being part of the Banbury FM team.
George had shown his commitment to radio since the age of 14 when he
volunteered at Kix 96 and Mercia Sound in Coventry. Banbury
FM gave George one of his first experiences of presenting a live show -
he presented the evening show Monday to Thursday, and the jukebox on a
Sunday lunchtime.
George was also a
very tallented producer and made some of the imaging you heard on-air.
After Banbury FM
2002 George went on to host a weekly programme at 107.1 Rugby
FM. In March 2003 George
joined Mercia FM in Coventry in a full-time production and on-air role and
later moved
to Trent FM in Nottingham.
Subsequently George
took a production role abroad before returning to the UK to work for
PureTonic where he wrote music and produced imaging packages for radio
stations around the world . You might even hear some of
George's work on Radio 1! In 2011 PureTonic merged with
international production company Reelworld. Within the new
company George has been promoted to the role of "Creative Director for
Production Vault CHR". The boy done well!

PureTonic on their website. |

Tom Wilson |
Engineer, Tech-Op

|
|
Tom had been a vital member of the hospital Radio Horton team for many
years - as the station engineer without Tom the station could not have
broadcast to the patients. Tom volunteered to help at
Banbury FM to experience the world of professional radio, but preferred
a behind the scenes role.
Tom may have been "off-air" but he undertook many essential jobs.
During the first trial broadcast Tom operated the equipment for both
John Craven and Stewart Green. During the second broadcast
he was back working with John Craven again and also helped Bob Dainty
with his programme.
And when the wind and rain caused problems with our news satellite feed
it was Tom on the studio roof facing the conditions trying to fix it.
Today Tom is a partner in Hitech Audio and Visual Services.
