Shortly after the Institute was built
its welfare was placed into the hands of a group of Trustees.
The first trustees appointed on 26 January 1898 were:
-

Church) - ex officio (ie. appointed by virtue of his office and
status).

Adderbury House) - appointed by the owner or owners of Adderbury
House.

currently own Adderbury Grounds Farm) - appointed by Adderbury
East Parish Council.
-
Samuel Choyce (village carpenter) -
appointed by Adderbury West Parish Council.
-

appointed by the Church Wardens.
The deed states that if any of these
persons ceases to be a trustee a new trustee shall be appointed in
writing by the body/person as indicated above. Any
change to the deed rules must be approved by four out of the five
Trustees.

Villagers will be
aware that the future of the Institute is under discussion in
certain quarters. However the Institute Management
Committee is tasked with the current maintenance and running of
the Institute on behalf of the Trustees. As such the Committee
is apolitical and has no say or direct impact in future plans;
its sole concerns are with ensuring that the building remains
fit for use in the future, and is managed and run effectively, until directed
otherwise by the Trustees.
Villagers may
have read that the Institute Committee has voted that the
Institute is no longer suitable for purpose. This is
not true: no such vote has taken place, and the Institute
Committee is apolitical on this issue.
